We’re so excited to share the first of three parties we created for We Heart Parties, including some free printable designs.  With the 4th coming up right around the corner, now is a good time to start planning those BBQs dashed out in red white and blue.

Adding a popsicle stick to watermelon slices keeps hands from getting sticky.

Add in plenty of red and blue fruit for a festive feel and a healthy snack.  For our fruit kabobs, use a star shaped cookie cutter to cut stars out of watermelon.  Place them at the top of kabob sticks and add blue berries just below.

We used a gingham pattern on both the table and as decorations on our cups + chip bowl to give an all American feel.  For the chip bowl we lined a bowl with red gingham fabric then added wax paper on top for the chips to sit on.  We kept using fruit in the part by adding it to a naked cake.

And don’t forget the sandwiches!  We loved using a 3-tier server tray to fit more sandwiches.

My little guy and a few of his friends were there helping us out that day, taking some pictures and enjoying all the food.  A patriotic word search is a fun activity for young guests.
